Detectives studied closed-circuit television footage today in the search for thieves who impersonated police officers and
robbed the equivalent of up to $74 million from a security company in one of the largest heists in British history. The money was stolen Wednesday from a cash center at Tonbridge in Kent county, a Bank of England spokesman said on condition of anonymity, in line with bank policy. There was still no exact figure for the amount of money stolen. No one was injured in the robbery. Police were studying closed-circuit TV footage from the site, but it was not yet clear whether the cameras had been disabled during the robbery. "These people knew where the money was, and how much there was," money laundering expert Jeffrey Robinson told the BBC. "They planned how to get in and how to get out again."
